Mathias Effenberger

Researcher

Dr.-Ing. Mathias Effenberger is Senior Researcher for Technology Assessment at the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Animal Husbandry within the Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture. He has more than 20 years experience in applied research on anaerobic digestion technology and life cycle assessment of agricultural product systems, with particular focus on energy efficiency and mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions. His work is lead by the ideas of strong sustainability and socially responsible innovation, and he regards the knowledge exchange with practitioners as very important.


Mathias received his doctoral degree in agricultural engineering at Technical University Munich. He holds a diploma in environmental engineering and a master’s degree in water resources engineering & management from University of Stuttgart, after studies in Bayreuth, Stuttgart, and Waterloo (Ontario, CAN).

We are a team of scientists from Austria, Germany and Switzerland working closely together combining microbiology, biotechnology and bioinformatics to investigate potential benefits deriving from the biotechnological usage of anaerobic fungi.
